The housing here is mostly Victorian and Edwardian terraces, interwar semis and a good deal of post-war and modern estate housing. That mix matters for price more than people expect. Newer estate housing is generally built to standard metric door sizes, so the doors go straight in and the fitting is quick. Terraces and older semis are more likely to need trimming or a new lining, and that is work rather than product.

A lot of what we do in this part of the county is whole-house replacement — every internal door in one visit rather than a room at a time. It is meaningfully cheaper per door that way, because the largest single cost in a fitting job is the day itself rather than the doors.

Landlords and letting agents are a bigger share of the work here than elsewhere. If a property is a house in multiple occupation, or has had a loft conversion, some of the doors will need to be FD30 fire doors correctly hung with intumescent seals rather than ordinary internal doors.
