Statement black internal doors

Black internal doors have gone from a bold choice to a mainstream one, and they work best where there is light to play against — a white hallway, a well-glazed room, or pale walls where the contrast does the work.

The practical thing to know is that black shows dust and fingerprints more than a mid-tone finish, particularly on a smooth surface and particularly around handles. A grained or lightly textured finish hides marks better than a flat one, and matt better than gloss.

Most of this range is pre-finished, meaning the colour is applied in factory conditions rather than on site. That matters more with black than any other colour — an even, streak-free black is difficult to achieve by brush, and a factory finish avoids the problem entirely.
